24th The Price Center will host its Annual Summer Fundraiser at Fenway
Park. We will start off the evening with a scrumptious dinner and a
raffle at 5:30pm in the exciting Best Buy Players Club, and then the
Red Sox vs. the Baltimore Orioles game at 7:05pm. Raffle items include
sports memorabilia, gift cards, gift baskets and much more. Tickets
are $125 each, and sponsorships are available. Please contact Sarah

All proceeds from
the Annual Summer Fundraiser will benefit people with developmental
disabilities. The Price Center supports people with severe chronic conditions

The
Price Center’s Annual Recognition Event with Secretary of Health
and Human Services Dr. Judy Ann Bigby

On Wednesday, February 25th, at 7:00pm The Barry L. Price Rehabilitation
Center will hosted its Annual Recognition Event. This year the event
was held at the Scandinavian Living Center, 206 Waltham Street, West
Newton.
Massachusetts Secretary
of Health and Human Services, Dr. JudyAnn Bigby was this year’s
keynote speaker. This event was to recognize individuals, companies,
and foundations that have supported The Price Center.

Virtual
Store is created by Individuals who have Developmental Disabilities

The
Barry L. Rehabilitation Center's (The Price Center) Employment Services
department has created a unique way of making money and employing their
own individuals at the same time. They created a virtual store, Work$mart,
in which they sell earrings to the public. These earrings are called
“angel earrings” and are made out of sterling silver and
Swarovski crystals. They make the earrings themselves and sell them
through this virtual store as well as by word of mouth. Work$mart’s
motto is “work hard, earn money.”
The Employment Services program at The Price Center promotes personal
growth by providing employment opportunities for individuals with developmental
disabilities through a wide range of meaningful experiences that respect
individual preferences and diversity in partnership with local businesses
and the community. The Price Center supports people with developmental
disabilities by encouraging personal growth and participation in the
community through social, living and work experiences that respect individual
preference and diversity.

L. Price Center hosts their annual Gala featuring Frankie Avalon
October 2008
On
Saturday, November 1st, 2008 at 6:30pm, the Barry L. Rehabilitation
Price Center will host their annual Gala at the Brookline Holiday Inn,
1200 Beacon Street, Brookline, MA 02446.
Please join us for
the Gala and in supporting the many services that The Price Center offers.
Tickets to the Gala will include a succulent buffet, silent auction,
raffle, as well as an evening of fun and exciting entertainment. This
year we will enjoy the musical talent of the American superstar Frankie
Avalon, whose exciting career spans five decades. All proceeds will
benefit the Price Center.

The Price Center’s Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament
May, 2008
On Monday, May 19th, 2008, from 11:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. at The Woodland
Country Club, 1897 Washington Street, Auburndale, MA 02466. The Barry
L. Price Rehabilitation Center will host its Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament.
Tickets to the fundraiser
include a day of golf on the 18-hole green, green fees, golf cart, and
giveaways, as well as lunch, dinner, and the opportunity to win great
prizes in the raffle and silent auction. Pricing is tiered according
to participant’s donation level, and tax-deductable options for
groups are also available.

donates to local charity
April, 2008
(Newton, MA :) Verizon
donates $15,000 to The Barry L. Price Rehabilitation Center to help
the programs and services of The Price Center remain strong and allow
for continued growth. On Friday, May 2, 2008 at 11:00am at 38 Border
Street in Newton, MA, a check will be presented to The Price Center
from Richard B. Colon, Regional Director and External Affairs of Verizon.
The Price Center
is dedicated to providing supports to maximize community integration,
safety, well being, dignity, rights, and enhance current skills and
encourage greater independence and control, while facilitating positive
social relationships within the community. The Price Center supports
people with developmental disabilities by encouraging personal growth
and participation in the community through social, living, and work
experiences that respect individual preferences and diversity.
Programs include,
The Ascent program (afternoon Social Club Encouraging Networking and
transitions) is an afternoon and summer program for teens and young
adults. Ascent provides structured activities that promote independence,
self-reliance, and community integration to the fullest extent possible.
Day Habilitation and Intensive Day Habilitation is for individuals with
moderate to severe cognitive needs, such as deafness or blindness. Intensive
Day Habilitation supports individuals with a primary diagnosis of sever
to profound mental retardation. Employment Services provides a range
of employment options for the job seeker while developing partnerships
with area businesses. Residential Supports provides opportunities for
independent living and community living. Family Supports offers a person
centered approach to assist family members as they plan a future that
takes account the ever changing needs and preferences of individuals.

Boston Bruin Hockey Legend Ken Hodge scores points off the Ice
2007
(Newton, MA) Ken Hodge, sports hero, wins again for individuals with
developmental and physical disabilities at The Barry L. Price Rehabilitation
Center. The Price Center is celebrating 30 Years of Service Excellence
in the Community.
Over the years,
The Price Center has grown and developed from a 5 person Day Habilitation
program built in 1977 to offering six (6) different programs and services
supporting 115 individuals. In addition to our traditional Employment
Services, Day Habilitation, Intensive Day Habilitation, Residential,
Afternoon and Summer Programs, we have started both Family Supports
and Vocational Assessment Programs. Recently we have also made significant
renovations to our residences. The Price Center is planning two new
start-up programs for 2007/2008.

Barry L. Price Rehabilitation Center, will be hosting its first Annual
Golf Tournament to benefit individuals who have developmental and physical
disabilities.
The Tournament includes
lunch, dinner, cart, prizes, raffle items and golf on the magnificent
private course which is located at 1897 Washington Street, Auburndale
MA. Single players $285.00 which includes everything. Foursome $1120.00
and Sponsorship opportunities are still available. The Tournament will
be a 1:00 pm shotgun start.

Extreme Makeover: My Hometown Moves to Newton

Team to Lead Makeover of The Barry L. Price Rehabilitation Center
(Newton,
MA) Extreme Makeover: My Hometown, WCVB-TV Channel 5’s
local version of the ABC Sunday night hit Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
is coming to Newton to transform one of the homes of The Barry L. Price
Rehabilitation Centers.
The renovations,
scheduled for August 22, 23, 24 and 25, will be led by Mary Richardson,
Anthony Everett, Ted Reinstein and Shayna Seymour of WCVB’s award-winning
nightly newsmagazine, Chronicle. WCVB colleagues
and volunteer teams will join the Chronicle team in transforming the
property at the Price Center, a non-profit organization that provides
support services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
Price Center residents
are provided opportunities to participate in community-based work, as
well as treatment and living environments aimed to foster self-confidence
and to maximize physical, emotional and intellectual capability. The
Price Center supports people with developmental disabilities by encouraging
personal growth and participation in the community through social, living
and work experiences that respect individual preference and diversity.

Extreme Makeover project will be featured on public service
announcements, news segments and on TheBostonChannel.com.
Since its inception
two years ago, WCVB’s Extreme Makeover: Hometown Edition
has completed four renovations around Massachusetts. The initial project
transformed an 8,000-square-foot convent in Mission Hill into a new
home for the Home for Little Wanderers. The second Extreme Makeover
helped finish and furnish the Bishop Street House in Jamaica Plain,
one of the residences operated by the Committee to End Elder Homelessness.
Last summer, as part of a general revitalization of Maverick Square,
an entire city block in East Boston enjoyed an Extreme Makeover.
Residents received new gutters and siding, windows, doors, window boxes
and flowers. The most recent endeavor was the renovation of a satellite
location of the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester that included a SportsCenter
Five Zone, an updated gymnasium, study space and refurbish the interior
and exterior of the building.
